Nouryon expands China manufacturing to meet growing demand for premium colloidal silica in catalysts and advanced coatings

Global specialty chemicals leader Nouryon is expanding production capacity for its premium grades of Levasil® colloidal silica at its manufacturing site in Guangzhou, China, to serve fast-growing segments like emissions control catalysts, electrical steel coatings and non-stick coatings for cookware across Asia Pacific. By bringing production closer to customers, Nouryon will supply a broader range of premium Levasil grades with shorter lead times, giving manufacturers the reliable access they need to develop and scale next-generation technologies and industrial processes.

Dutch consortium receives grant to confirm energy-saving research

A consortium of Dutch groups that includes Nouryon has received a grant to study ways to increase the efficiency of AC motors, which currently account for 40% of global electricity consumption. The consortium, which also includes the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology, Vopak, Semiotic Labs, TPA Adviseurs and the Universiteit Utrecht's Copernicus Institute, will develop algorithms that analyse electrical waveforms with the goal of reducing energy consumption by 15% to 30% without compromising on output.
